Easter is Coming, Your Resurrection is Coming
We hope and pray that you had a glorious Passion Week and Easter Weekend! As our family took time to commemorate the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we were reminded that these were not only key events leading up to Jesus' final days of his earthly life and ministry, but they also represent key seasons of formation in the lives of those who follow Him. And while everyone loves a good resurrection story, we sometimes forget that in order to get there, you have to go through the two critical stages of "death" and "burial" as well.
As morbid as it sounds, many of us are probably familiar with experience of what we might call "death" seasons. Perhaps for some of us, it was the result of an existential, faith, or life crisis. For others, it may have occurred when we experienced some type of a catastrophic loss (like the loss of a loved one). While others of us may have experienced this on the heels of a major life transition - which may result in a deep sense of loss and the accompanying grief that comes with it. These are some of the types of things that we tend to experience when we go through the "death" seasons of our lives.
There may be others of us who are also familiar with "burial" seasons - a season marked by a crisis of limitation, hiddenness, or restraint. In burial seasons, we often experience a very intense, deep, inner work that God is doing in us. Often times, we might feel restrained or limited in terms of our outer functioning work or ministry, because the focus of the burial seasons are intentionally more internal. But nonetheless, it can feel quite frustrating or painful for many people that are going through it.
If we can find any solace in what we were reminded of this past Easter weekend, it is that Christ not only died and was buried, but that He rose again. And our faith and trust is that we who have died with Christ, have been buriedwith Him, will once again be resurrected with Him - not just in a salvific sense, but also in a faith journey sense. So for those who you find yourself in the "death" or "burial" seasons of life, take heart for Easter is coming...your resurrection season is coming!
